![]() ![]() Since then, I have played (and obviously own) all three of those games in their PAL guises: Virtua Fighter 3tb, Dynamite Cop and Tokyo Highway Challenge.but you no doubt already guessed the English title of the first game mentioned there. The games were Virtua Fighter 3tb, Dynamite Deka 2 and Shutokou Battle - a game we had no idea was a racing title because there were no screens on the back of the case and no English text at all (time must have muddied my memory - all three apparently have screens). Tired of playing Buck Bumble and Rush 2 on N64 in his cramped bedroom, we took a trip to an import store in nearby Manchester's Chinatown district where my friend handed over several hundred pounds for a Japanese Dreamcast and a few games. I went to the alternate menu screen once to check it out.My very first experience with a Dreamcast came in early 1999 when a friend who was earning suspiciously large amounts of money for doing a menial warehouse job decided he wanted a new games console. I personally have only used Head Hunter with it via the 1st mode and it has worked fine. Supposedly, as they claim, this takes care of all compatibility issues for any DC game&console. UTOPIA DISC DREAMCAST PLUSplus there are a couple of other settings that can be changed (I forget offhand) so you can find the combination that works with the troublesome game. The second way, after the disc has been swapped, but before you close the door, you hold down a button on the conroller and it brings up another menu, for games that won't load the normal way, where you can specifically choose the refresh rate and between any of the video format choices available NTSC, PAL and RF/Video/S-video/RGB/Scart/etc. ![]() When I sayed it loads games two ways, I meant that the first option is just to load the disc, swap for the game, and go. I don't know how utopia does the 50/60mhz conversion, but I may not have been specific enough about the CD-X. Euro Shenmue II is the only import I have. Apparently it does it automatically.Īs a reminder, I'm using Utopia burned with Nero. I'm not sure if that's standard with some companies or if its being coded in by the people who are dumping the game.īefore I received my copy of Euro Shenmue II I had read that I would see a screen giving me the choice of the 50/60hz mode. Having "sampled" a few Pal imports on cd-r with the Utopia boot disk, I find it interesting that many of the newer games give you the option to set pal or ntsc when you first start the game. ![]() Yeah, I agree the CD-X is much more handy than the Utopia boot disk especially with Pal compatibility and at $10 its a very good price. This product is made by Future Console Design. No matter if your trying to play Japanese or American games in Europe or vice versa, it can be adjusted to work properly. and choose between running in 50hz or 60hz mode for maximum compatibility of all import games. "has two different ways of loading games and allows you to select what cable your using, RF, video, S-video,RGB, scart, etc. Works for both Pal and NTSC dreamcasts and games." ![]() Also compatible with WWF Royal Rumble, Gauntlet Legends, Silver. More successful than so called "Mod Chips." Doubles the amount of games available. Needs no alteration to your console so does not effect warranty. " Compatible with ALL Dreamcast consoles. Even works better than chip mods, so they say: Plus, according to the product, it does work with everything. Some one who wants to play imports, but can't get a utopia disc for what ever reason. It's kind of hard to use it to load games when you can't even get it to work! Or people who have problems with the cd-rom burner or don't have cd-rom burners AT ALL, there are plenty of those left you know. I'm selling to people, like me, who haven't been able to get the Utopia disc to work AT ALL. If you have a Utopia disc, then you already ARE hardcore as far as I'm concerned. Uhmmm.outside of hardcore gamers is EXACTLY who I'm trying to sell too. UTOPIA DISC DREAMCAST FOR FREEoutside of hardcore DC collectors, I don't think too many will be interested in it, only because the Utopia boot ISO does the same and can be downloaded for free ![]()
